Live Captioning

Live Captioning for THE EVENT INDUSTRY

Live captioning involves capturing the spoken word in written format.  This text is then displayed on screen, in real-time, for the audience to digest.  It can be used for both in-person and online events.

Live captioning is an effective way of making your events more inclusive and engaging, supporting multiple group types:

  • Captions improve accessibility and inclusion for those who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Captions can support people who are neurodivergent, for example those with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) benefit from the additional stimuli that captions provide or those with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) could find it difficult to process both visual and auditory content together, captions allowing them to digest the information via one format
  • Captions aid understanding for those whose first language isn’t English
  • It may simply be that some of your audience is listening from a noisy or crowded space or from somewhere where audio isn’t allowed. Live captions can help overcome this
  • Captions could also help your event reach more of an international audience. Text can be captioned in either the same language as the speaker’s or translated into another language, boosting audience numbers

The text can be captured in a variety of ways.  Speech can be converted to text either by use of machines or real people.  However, real people produce the best results, delivering up to 99% accuracy.  Please get in touch to discuss requirements and what would work best for your event and your budget.
